Moruya Bypass
Is your property subject to compulsory acquisition or a construction lease for the Moruya Bypass?
Receiving a notice of compulsory acquisition can be deeply upsetting. At Rely Legal, we guide you through the acquisition process by clearly explaining your options, advocating on your behalf, and ensuring you receive the full amount of compensation you are entitled to under the Just Terms Compensation Act.
Moruya Bypass Project Details
In July 2024, Transport for NSW selected the orange corridor as the preferred route for the proposed Moruya bypass, marking the completion of the project’s planning phase, which means the orange corridor will be reserved for future construction.
The preferred option includes an almost nine-kilometre bypass of Moruya between Shelley Road and Mountain View Road. This option would provide a two-lane bypass of Moruya (one lane in each direction), passing to the east of the existing Princes Highway and traversing the floodplain and agricultural properties before crossing the Moruya River. The alignment crosses the floodplain to the south of the river and would be located immediately west of Congo Road and Noads Drive before re-joining the existing highway near Mountain View Road.
The preferred orange option includes:
- A two-lane highway bypass (one lane in each direction) with a central barrier between each lane from south of Malabar Drive to south of Mountain View Road. Connections to the existing Princes Highway will be provided near Shelley Road and Noads Drive respectively.
- A bridge, approximately 3.8 kilometres long, across the floodplain and Moruya River from north of Dooga Creek to south of South Head Road.
- Potential minor realignment and adjustment of existing local roads including Percy Davis Drive, Malabar Drive, Shelley Road, South Head Road, Noads Drive and Mountain View Road.
- Flood-resilient access along the bypass and southern connection to the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital.
Legal and Valuation Costs
Pursuant to the Just Terms Act, the acquiring authority is required to pay the reasonable legal and valuation costs incurred by landowners in relation to the acquisition. This means you will not be responsible for any legal fees charged by Rely Legal.
