Frequently asked questions

What does a conveyancing lawyer do?

Conveyancing lawyers manage the legal process of transferring property ownership from one party to another. This includes reviewing contracts, advising on risks, liaising with the other party’s solicitor, and managing the process through to settlement.

How much does conveyancing cost?

Rely Legal offers fixed-fee conveyancing, so you know exactly what you will pay upfront with no hidden costs. Contact us for a quote tailored to your property transaction.

What is included in a conveyancing service?

Our fixed-fee service includes a thorough review of the contract for sale, advice on special conditions or risks, liaison with the other party’s solicitor or conveyancer, review of title searches and strata reports, preparation and exchange of contracts, and management of the entire process through to settlement.

How long between exchange and settlement?

Settlement typically occurs 42 days (6 weeks) after exchange of contracts, though this can be negotiated between the parties. Shorter settlement periods are possible but require both parties to agree.

Who prepares the contract for sale?

In NSW, the vendor’s (seller’s) solicitor or conveyancer prepares the contract for sale. It must be prepared before the property is listed and must include mandatory documents. Rely Legal can prepare the contract promptly to ensure your property can go to market without delay.

Can Rely Legal help first home buyers in Sydney and wider NSW?

Yes. We regularly assist first home buyers across Sydney (including Cronulla and the Sutherland Shire), and we also provide a NSW-wide remote service guiding you through every step from contract review to settlement.

Do you offer urgent contract reviews?

Yes. We offer same-day and urgent contract reviews for buyers across Sydney, the Sutherland Shire and throughout NSW, including remote and regional areas.

Can Rely Legal handle my conveyancing if I am not local to Sydney, Cronulla or the Sutherland Shire?

Absolutely. While our office is in Sydney, our conveyancing lawyers assist clients in Cronulla, the Sutherland Shire and throughout NSW.

What is the difference between exchange and settlement?

Exchange is when both parties sign contracts and the deal becomes legally binding. Settlement is when the balance of the purchase price is paid and ownership transfers. Rely Legal’s conveyancing lawyers manage both stages on your behalf.
